How volunteer applications work

Volunteering on Grow is free and application based. Communities open opportunities when they need hands and hearts: gardens, builds, kitchens, events.

Applying

On a volunteering listing, open the application and tell the community:

• which of the requested skills you bring, and
• when you are available.

A thoughtful availability note goes a long way. Hosts read every application.

After you apply

Your application status is visible on the opportunity page:

• Pending: the community is reviewing it. You can withdraw at this stage if your plans change.
• Approved: you are in. The community will coordinate arrival details with you.
• Not accepted: it was not a fit this time. It is rarely personal; needs and timing change quickly.

Timeframes

Some opportunities run on fixed dates, others are flexible and list a minimum and maximum length of stay. The listing always states which.
